What you'll do

Organize sales and work prospects into Pipelines, move Opportunities through Stages, and keep Pipeline placement separate from the Opportunity's business outcome.

Before you begin

  • Your plan must include the Pipeline feature.
  • You need Pipeline visibility plus the relevant Opportunity create, update, assignment, or delete permission for each action.
  • Every Opportunity belongs to a Contact. A Contact can have more than one Opportunity.

Build a Pipeline

  1. Open Opportunities.
  2. Select the Pipelines tab.
  3. Click Add Pipeline.
  4. Name the Pipeline, assign the users who should be able to work with it, and add its ordered Stages.
  5. Save the Pipeline.

Stage names must be unique within the same Pipeline. A Stage that still contains Opportunities cannot be deleted until those Opportunities are moved.

Add and place an Opportunity

  1. Return to the Opportunities tab.
  2. Click Add Opportunity.
  3. Select or create the Contact, then enter the Opportunity name and projected value.
  4. Choose an authorized Pipeline and matching Stage, and assign users when you have assignment permission.
  5. Save the Opportunity.

A newly created Contact already has one open, unassigned Opportunity. Check the Contact before adding another prospect so you do not create an accidental duplicate.

Work the board or list

  • Use the Board view to search the selected Pipeline and drag an Opportunity to another Stage.
  • Use the List view to search and filter by Pipeline, Stage, assignee, business status, and Contact Tags.
  • Use the ellipsis menu on a card or row for Move To, Assign User, or the permission-gated delete action.
  • Open an Opportunity to edit its name, value, business status, Pipeline, Stage, assigned users, addresses, and related Quotes, Jobs, Tasks, invoices, subscriptions, and form activity.

Moving an Opportunity to a Stage changes its Pipeline placement only. The business status is a different field: open, won, lost, or abandoned. Successful Quote conversion or one-off Job conversion can mark it won; a Stage name such as “Won” does not do that by itself.

Read the conversion stats

The stats row follows the current Pipeline selection:

  • Intake counts Opportunities in the selection.
  • Converted counts Opportunities whose business status is won.
  • Conversion Rate is Converted divided by Intake.

Stage filters do not redefine those metrics.

Delete with the right expectation

Deleting an Opportunity is permanent, but it does not delete the linked Contact. Nullable related records may be detached, so review the Opportunity's related work before confirming.
