Review and Mark Technician Compensation Paid

Understand commission and tip snapshots, filter the Compensation Ledger, and record what payroll paid.

Compensation Commissions Tips Payroll Technicians

What Crewvana records

Crewvana creates payroll-ready commission and tip entries. It does not send money, run payroll, calculate withholding, file taxes, or sync a payroll provider.

The desktop Compensation Ledger requires compensation.view. There is no separate mobile Compensation Ledger.

How commission is earned

When a parent Job first becomes Completed, Crewvana divides its service subtotal equally among the distinct technicians assigned to non-cancelled Visits, then applies each technician's snapshotted commission rate. Tax and tips are excluded.

A technician assigned to more than one eligible Visit receives one share. If no eligible Visit technician exists, Crewvana does not create a commission allocation.

How tips are allocated

A completed positive-tip payment creates a tip allocation using the same distinct, non-cancelled Visit assignments. A Job with no eligible technician produces a visible Unallocated tip share. Refunds create separate negative reversal entries with the original attribution.

Commission and tip batches are idempotent, immutable snapshots. Reopening the Job, retrying the event, renaming a technician, or reassigning a Visit after the earning event does not rewrite recipients, rates, Visit evidence, or amounts.

Review the ledger

  1. Open Compensation.
  2. Review Total Compensation, Still Owed, Marked Paid, and the revenue-ratio widgets.
  3. Filter by date, technician, type, or status. Use search for technicians, Jobs, or Visit evidence.
  4. Open the Job and Visit links when you need the source work.
  5. Use Reset to clear saved filters.

Statuses are Owed, Paid, and Reversed. Reversal rows are negative and reduce filtered totals. Older entries without Visit snapshots are labeled as legacy attribution rather than being reconstructed from current assignments.

Record payroll payment

  1. Select one or more Owed rows.
  2. Choose Mark Paid and confirm.
  3. Crewvana records the paid timestamp and defaults Paid Amount to the full earned amount.
  4. If payroll included a smaller amount, use the paid row's edit action and enter the actual paid amount.

The corrected paid amount cannot be negative or exceed the earned amount. Marking paid changes only the ledger record; it does not change the Job, Invoice, customer payment, or immutable earning snapshot.

If totals look wrong

  • Confirm the parent Job reached Completed; completing one Visit is not enough while a required sibling remains.
  • Confirm the technician was assigned to a non-cancelled Visit at the earning event.
  • For tips, confirm the payment transaction completed with a positive tip.
  • Clear ledger filters before comparing totals.
  • Do not use current assignments to reinterpret an older snapshot; follow the stored Job and Visit evidence.
